Mission

The mission of the Office of Research is to provide leadership to the University of New England community in building research and scholarly activities by:

  • providing support for faculty and staff to identify and pursue funding opportunities
  • ensuring that faculty and staff have all the tools necessary to be competitive
  • encouraging student participation in research
  • ensuring compliance in all research functions

  • The University of New England has received a $1.5 million grant from the Maine Technology Asset Fund (MTAF) toward completion of the biomedical research labs on UNE’s Biddeford Campus.  More Information ...
  • An innovative project designed to partner University of New England researchers and their graduate students with the local K-12 community has been awarded a substantial $2.87 million five-year National Science Foundation (NSF) grant. 

    Officially titled, “The Interactions of Biology, Chemistry and Physics at the Land-Ocean Interface: A Systemic PARTnership Aimed at Connecting University and School,” the project is referred to as SPARTACUS. More information ...

  • President Danielle Ripich, Ph.D., and Vice President for Research Tim Ford, Ph.D., are delighted to announce the establishment of centers of excellence in research and scholarship at the University of New England.  These university-wide centers build on existing strengths at the institution, in marine science and neuroscience, humanities and public health. 

    The centers are designed to provide opportunities for collaborative research and scholarship programs that are competitive for interdisciplinary, multi-investigator and multi-institutional awards.  The centers are also designed to expand undergraduate research at UNE and explore opportunities for future Ph.D. programs.  More information ...
